Our Story
Halsey Downtown Newark has undergone a transformation in recent years. As one of the country’s oldest cities, a short walk through downtown reveals much about its rich culture. Many famous figures, like Shaq, Michael B. Jordan, Tichina Arnold, and others, once called this city home. Locals often say Newark was built differently, and it’s that culture of hustle and heart that has fueled the revitalization of downtown. Longtime residents have launched new ventures to showcase their pride, while an influx of newcomers from places like Montclair, Jersey City, and New York City has brought fresh energy to the Arts and Entertainment District. Over the past few years, new businesses and entrepreneurs have breathed new life into the area. Halsey Street embodies this shift, and we’re ready to show it off to residents and visitors alike. Today, there’s something for everyone—whether you want to spend the afternoon at The Newark Museum of Art or shop at Brown Mill, the options to live, work, and be entertained on Halsey Street continue to grow.
